Are you mad! You are going to run how many kilometers? What are you trying to do?  Kill yourself. Is your will ready..I don’t understand why you do this…These statements were running through my head as soon as I put off the alarm that marked the trip to the start line of the 89 Kilometers Comrades in South Africa.

Climbing Mt.Kilimanjaro 7th-13th August 2016-a Different Kind of Tough

I stepped in the shower, turned the hot water on and like a prisoner who had just tasted freedom, I let the water run down my body. I was having the first  “proper” shower in 7 days. I closed my eyes and let my mind wonder. How had I arrived at this point? Fast rewind to January 2016. We were having an AGM for our running group and the issue of climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro came up.

My Journey in the Running World

We had finally come out of the difficult period of settling with our little new born baby boy and he was starting to be independent so we had a little bit of extra time in our hands. Well I think that’s how my Wife suddenly realized that there was need to do something about her newly acquired frame thanks to the pregnancy.
